New toy and published cards.......

Just a week ago, I posted on my hubby's Facebook wall about me wanting a DSLR camera. He always discouraged me whenever I mentioned about getting a new camera. "Don't waste your money" was his usual response. So imagined my surprise when he posted on his wall that he agreed to buy one for me! It's actually a second hand camera that I bought from my bestie and it is still in good condition. So right now I have been busy playing with my 'new' toy and let's see how long it takes for me to master the basic skill of photography :)

Here are some of my published cards that I have yet to share on my crafty corner. January 2011 had a been a blessing month for me as three of my cards were picked for this issue and one of it made it to the cover.

The February issue.....

The March issue.....

Hope to see you very soon! Toodles!

Not a fan of gloomy weather........

Hello crafty friends! Happy Monday to you! The weather has been gloomy these days and I really miss the sunshine. I don't know about you but weather does affect my mood. Sunny day = happy & gloomy day = sad. Today, I am not too happy with the weather so I thought I would come here to post a card. It makes feel a little bit better :)

Remembered the layout I did for my bestie last week? I actually made a card to go with the layout but didn't take picture of it so my bestie took for me. I love how soft and shabby this card was. You can't see it clearly but I misted the cardstock and love the hint of shimmer on my card. I distressed the edges to make it look aged. I remembered how my friends used to ask me if I burn the paper with incense stick because that's what we used to do back in the school days, lol :) Ok, I have one last thing to say before I go...........Emma Shoppe, I LOVE YOU!!!!!

My BFF

Hello friends! I met my girl friends for dinner yesterday and we had a super great time. Great food, great view and great friends! My bestie celebrated her birthday early this month and I made her a layout using the new Emma Shop papers and stickers by Crate Paper. I hardly work with bold colors and floral patterns but somehow Emma Shop captured my heart. It's love at first sight :)

Home Sweet Home

Hello friends, this is going to be a very quick post but I wanted to share a card I made using the cutest collection by Crate Paper called 'Neighborhood'.

On this card, I combined the borders and phrase stickers as well as the accent cuts to create a scene. This card came pretty quickly and I am happy with the result. All materials are available at Smidapaper.

Hope you have a great day!

Framed Layout + Pinterest

Hello friends, I made this for a friend last week using lots of MME's stuff :) You know by now how much I love MME, right? I am keeping the layout simple and not heavily embellish but yet special. I also choose to work with a softer palette to match with the white frame from Ikea. (photo courtesy of Yiling)

On another fun note, have you heard of Pinterest? It is a new site where people get to share all sorts of stuff. I heard about it a month ago but didn't pay much attention to it, not until two weeks ago. You need an invite to start pinning, so let me know if you need one :) You can find me here.

Stella and Rose continues......

Dear Stella and Rose again, I am so madly in LOVE with you! Although, you made me stayed up very late last night and practically made me looked like a walking dead this morning but I loved you anyway! Always and forever! *big grin* :))

I made another layout and it's my 5th layout to date. Before this I only like to do cards but now I find it quite enjoyable to scrapbook as well. I get to decorate my photo with pretty stuff and it makes me happy. This photo was taken last year with my sis-in-law who was also my ex-colleague. We had work together for almost 10 years in the same company and it was a blessing to have her as my sis-in-law (I would say she's one of the best SIL in the world). She may not know this but she taught me how to be more generous and not asking for anything in return. We may have had disagreements and arguments before but she's the forgiving type so we never hold any grudge against each other. Ann, if you are reading this.....I just want to tell you that I adore you very much and thanks for everything that you've done for me. Please know that I will always be there for you whenever you needed me.....love ya.

Up next is a card I made with the beautiful paper from Stella and Rose. The colors and patterns are so inspiring that it only took me a while to finish the card. My Mind's Eye is having a blog challenge right now so I am entering both my layout and card. Wish me luck! The wide range of Stella and Rose collection are available at Smidapaper now. Come and check it out!

P/S: Thanks for all your lovely comments, my friends! You truly made my day! Please hang in there with me as I made my way to your blog soon :) Hugs!

Stella and Rose.........

Dear Stella and Rose, I am so madly in LOVE with you! Although, you burnt a big hole in my pocket and probably caused me to eat instant noodle until my next paycheck but I loved you anyway! And I am happy to take you home with me *big grin* :))

You can get all these and much more from Smidapaper. We are bringing you lots of new goodies this week so be sure to visit us if you are in Penang :)

Meanwhile, I have a card to share but I am keeping this post short because you know my new goodies are calling out to me from my craft room :)

Enjoy your day!

Who says boy can't craft?

Those who think that boys can't craft were so wrong. I've had a few guys attended my class already and this particular card was from my previous Valentine's Class. I kept the design simple because I don't want to scare the dudes away :) It took them more than an hour to complete the card but I truly admire their effort just because they want to make their girl happy. This proves that love can make you do anything.....even if it's out of the norm. I still wish that my hubby would someday make me a card.......I guess I'll have to wait a little longer :)

Shabby Wedding Card

My high school friend, Emilie is getting married tomorrow and being such a long time friend I decided to make a wedding card for her special day. She loves lace and vintage style, so I tried to incorporate them into my design. I had this 6x6 Pink Paislee paper from the Sweetness collection sitting in my paper basket waiting for me to use them. So easy. But the hardest part is to choose the right embellishments. I took out almost everything I had and made a huge pile of mess on my desk before I found the right embellishments for the card. But in the end it's worth the effort and I really hope she loves it when she sees it tonight :)

It's Friday and I hope you have a great day!

Scrap-It-Lah Challenge

Hubby just left this morning after his three months break. It was kind of emotional for me but I managed to hold back my tears. It will take me at least a few days to adjust my daily routine. But I'm all good :) Today I have yet another layout to share. I created this a few weeks ago, then I saw the February challenge hosted by Scrap-It-Lah. It has been a while since I joined a challenge so I thought why not participate this time. It's a No-Red-Or-Pink Valentine's challenge. How fun! So here's my no red or pink challenge.....

I really really loved the Lost n Found collection by MME! It has to be my favorite collection ever! I was so inspired by the pattern and the color. I did some cutting here and there and I really loved the result. Though simple but it's true to my style :) Oh yeah, I have to credit my Jessy babe for all the cutting inspiration!

Hope you have a great week ahead!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!! How did you celebrate it with your special someone? I would really love to know :) Me? We did not celebrate because I had to work and the last time we celebrated V-Day was 12 years ago. Yeah, no kidding! Hubby said being with me everyday is like Valentine's day to him (I know he lied but it worked, lol) Are all guys like that?

Since today is Valentine's Day, I am sharing a card I made for Smidapaper. The heart stamp is from Hero Arts and sentiments are from TechniqueTuesday. I hope you like it!

XOXOXO!

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Hello Friends!! Today marks the 4th day of Chinese New Year and I am wishing all of my Chinese friends "Happy Chinese New Year" and may the year of Rabbit brings you good health and wealth! We've been really busy for the past couple of days but surprisingly I wasn't feeling tired at all :) I ate a lot too...mostly on sweet things and I am sure my sugar level had risen up, lol.

I got disconnected from the internet for four days and it was so miserable for not being able to update my blog. I even nearly missed a deadline! Anyways, I am back and I have a layout to share. I have been wanting to create a layout so badly and I am happy I finally did. I used a mix of patterned paper by Crate Paper, October Afternoon, Girl Paperie and My Mind's Eye. It took me a while to create this but I am happy with the final result. I hope you like it too.

The smiling girl in the picture is my talented scrapbooker friend, Jessy! Jessy is the real deal and we've known each other for almost two years now. This picture was taken at The Curve in Jan 2010 when we met for the first time. I remembered how nervous I was the first time I met her but her friendliness put me at ease. We chatted for hours and completely ignored my poor hubby who was there with us at the time, lol. Since then, both of us have been very chatty and we can easily chat for hours and hours over the phone. Jessy has been very supportive of me and I am so glad that we are friends!

Happy Sunday!

Much Thanks!

Hello my sweet friends!

Today I have little card to share using paper from one my favorite manufacturer, October Afternoon. The yellow polka dots paper is from the Modern Home Maker collection. Can you see the music note background? Ohh, how I love the stamp from Papertrey! (the stamp is not mine though, I borrowed it from Sheila). While creating this card, I realized that I don't have any ink pads at home because I left them in the store so I used distress ink instead. I love the vintage-y effect that can only be achieved with distress ink :)

That's all I have for today. Enjoy your weekend!

Busy Bee...

I just realized that Chinese New Year is only a week away! Oh my! I am so stress out here! It's a tradition
to held a reunion dinner on New Year's eve where family members get together to celebrate. So being a filial daugther-in-law (ahem), I have to carry out duty like cooking and cleaning the house (it's my least favorite things to do in the world!). I even have to write down a list of things to buy and plan my cleaning schedule. Crazy right? I know. Ok, I am not going to stress you out too :)

Let me share with you a card I made last week using the Parisan Anthology paper again. Love love this paper so much!

Thanks so much for coming here! Hugs to you all!
