TOOT! TOOT!

Happy Wednesday or Happy Hump day as my American friends would say :)

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebration! 2010 is coming to an end soon and I am very happy to say that it is a great year for me. I hope 2011 will be another great year for me and I have an exciting news to share when the new year begins :) But for now, I am sharing my very first publication in the latest issue of Paper Crafts Magazine.

Paper Crafts was kind enough to send me a copy of the issue but I was too lazy to snap a picture so I share my original card instead :) I hope you like it. Be back soon! Ta ta!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

I just wanted to wish all my talented friends on the bloggy land A MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Holiday season is around the corner

Christmas is less than a week away and I am sure you are all busy preparing for it. As for me, I am very behind on making Christmas cards and I still have gifts to buy.

Today I am sharing one of the card I made for the Christmas cards class. We made four cards and this is my favorite of the bunch. It's shabby and just the style I like.

Hubby and I are getting ready to go out to have some coffee :) See you soon and have a great evening!

Random Stuff

One of the perk of working in  a scrapbook store is you get to see beautiful products everyday but there is a danger too. Damage to my pocket of course :) I had a visit from Vi yesterday and it was fun seeing her again. We chatted for a while and it somehow triggered the shopaholic in me and I bought myself some pretty stuff :) It was so funny because I never shop while working and I jokingly told Vi that next time she can only come when I have the money to spend...lol! Here's a pic of the stuff I bought from Smidapaper.

My first altered project

I bought some frames from Ikea a while ago and I had no idea what to do with them until now. I altered the natural wood frame by painted a coat of acryclic paint by Making Memories. Sea Foam has to be one of my favorite color after Blush :) To achieve the worn out effect, I distressed it with tea dye ink. Then I decorated the frame with some of my favorite embellishments like the big beautiful chipboard butterfly by K&Co. Easy isn't it? I am going to alter a few more frames and probably give them to my friends :)

Happy Friday!

I should be sleeping but............

instead, I thought of pop in quickly to share with you some cards I made a while ago. Nothing fancy, just two simple cards using mostly My Mind's Eye. I admit that the Lost and Found collection has been my favorite and I feel like hoarding the paper for as long as I can. They are so glittery, so soft and so classy. I have a few projects in mind that I wish I have more time to sit down and create. I hardly even have time to update my blog. But I love my job so I am not complaining.

Last Sunday was my birthday and I spent the whole afternoon sleeping. I slept for 4 hours, mind you!  Not sure if age has anything to do with it. I used to get every excited on my birthday but as age is catching up, the excitement has die down. It feels like an ordinary day except that I get to eat what I want :) After my long nap, hubby took me out to dinner in a Chinese restaurant (they served yummy dumplings) and even bought me this laptop bag from Fossil. It has the Cath Kidston style and I love it! I used to carry the boring black laptop bag to work but I can say bye bye to it now :) Hello new bag!

Thanks for your visit and I hope you are having a great day! Hopefully I will have another project to share soon. A layout or maybe an altered frame :) See you around!

Tag Along Challenge

Hello again! Smidapaper has a brand new challenge to welcome the festive season. We called it the "Tag Along" challenge. I created some vintage inspired tags for the challenge and you may visit the website for the rules. It's very simple, really. I hope you play along with us! (open to Malaysians only)

Happy Wednesday!

Update on new store

Hello friends! I can't believe it's been a week since my last post! Time is limited these days and creating is not a daily affair for me anymore. I still create for the store though but mostly are samples for the class. Working in Smidapaper is a whole new experience for me especially when dealing with customers. Some are nice, some are not but still I enjoy every moment of it. Sometimes in between work, Sheila and I will have our "crazy" talk and it makes it even more enjoyable to work here. It's my second week already and I am starting to get familiar with the routine, customers and stuff. Before I sign off, here are couple of pictures taken at the store by Sheila. Enjoy!

One day left.......

Hello friend! I'm sorry I've gone missing on you! We spent two days setting up the new store and I'm happy to say that it's starting to take shape. With only one day left before the opening, there's no time to waste. The stamps are already up on the display wall, punches, stickers, and ribbons too. Today will have fun unpacking the paper and doing Christmas decorations :) Here's a sneak of what we have in the store,

An array of acryclic paints. Seeing the beautiful colors on the shelves make me happy. Very happy.

Marker pen in assortment of colors. I called it the 'wheel of colors'.

Ok, I got to run. Stay tune for more updates on the new store. I will post more pictures in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, you may visit Smidapaper blog for more information.

Happy Wednesday!

Handmade Soap

I have no card to share but instead a picture of some fun gift I put together for my friends. You know how I love packaging and these cute little soap infused with exotic spices and pure essential oil are just what I'm looking for. To make it even more personal, I wrapped up the soap with some colorful paper and ribbons. They smell really good and not overpowering. My favorite has to be the lemongrass. I love everything lemongrass! It has this soothing smell that calms me down and I also love the fact that it help to keep mosquitoes away :) They also make a perfect Christmas gift, don't you think?

A new range of handmade soap are available at Smidapaper soon. Come check them out when the new store open on 25th November.

Have a fun filled day!

Goodbye Altera!

I want to remember today. It is the day I bid farewell to my company and the good friends that I've known for 10 years. It was bittersweet for me and I will definitely miss them. I am so used to my daily routine that I hope I don't wake up at at 6:45am on Monday and drive myself to work, lol. I took some pictures with my friends and I hope to post them here soon.

Meanwhile, I am sharing a card I made for my class a while back. Enjoy!

Happy or Sad

Hello! Thank you for your comments on my last post. Your kind words brighten my day and reading every single one of them made me smile. They meant a lot and I am thankful for that.

This Friday will be my last day at work and I am still busy packing my stuff, transferring some personal datas to my laptop and attending farewell lunch/dinner in between. I've still got a few odds and ends to do before leaving but other than that I am pretty much looking forward to my new job. I have people asking me if I am happy leaving the company. To be frank, I am happy and eager to start a new environment, meeting new people and learning new stuff. Being creative is part of my life now and I am very excited about it. But leaving behind a group of great friends that I've known for 10 years is is the most difficult. They are my trusted confidant, my lunch partner, my car-pool partner and even my fashion advisor. They are everything a friend could ever ask for and I love them dearly.

Sigh...emotion aside. I had to share a card I made using a mix of papers from My Little Yellow Bicycle and Studio Calico. Yay to me! I made another masculine card and I am just proud of myself, lol :)

Happy Monday!

Smidapaper

Now that the craft bazaar is over,  I can breathed a sigh of relief. But then I can't rest....not yet. Right now, I'm focusing on something more important that will change my life completely or my working life at least. If you think I'm pregnant, I have to stop you there. I'm not. Quitting my job? Yes! Quitting my job and work for Smidapaper? Double yes! I have been keeping this for a while and I thought it's time to let the cat out of the bag. Its suffocating, lol :) It took me months to decide and I finally made up my mind to work for Smidapaper full time. I've been working in a corporate company for almost 10 years and working in a store is really new to me. But I'm willing to learn all that and looking forward to my new job. I know I won't be creating all the time and I'm ready to take whatever challenge that awaits me. My hubby has been very supportive of me and I'm really glad. He even told me that he would send me to work everyday (which is only 5min away from our house) and brings me food. That's so sweet of him! I married the right guy, lol :)

So this week I'm busy packing up all the stuffs that I've been collecting over the years. It's easy to just chucked them in a box but they are going to give me real headache when I bring them home. I don't have space for them. I don't even have enough space for my crafty stuff. What am I to do with them?? Scratching my head here. Anyways, I have a card to share. Ohhh..I love this polka dots paper by My Little Yellow Bicycle. I think I'm going to hoard it for a while :) I'm having paper flower fever right now, can you tell???

Happy Wednesday!

Pictures from the craft bazaar

Hello! I mentioned on my previous post that I went to a craft bazaar over the weekend. Smidapaper had a booth and I was there to help. It was my first time ever running a booth and it's so much fun! A new learning experience for me indeed :) Here are some pics taken by Josie....enjoy!

On the left is Sheila and Josie is on the right. Love this picture of us! So natural!

Some handmade goodies.

That's me shopping for other crafty stuff. This booth is one my favorite at the bazaar. The owner made some really cute aprons and check out the fun banners that she sew. They are simply lovely!

It's bedtime now and I can hardly open my eyes already. So I'm going to say good night to you :) Sweet dreams!

True Love

I had a great weekend! Besides, my in-laws were out of town and I have the house all to myself. Hehe, I can do whatever I want and craft whenever I want. You can tell I love being alone :) So on Saturday, we had a craft bazaar at Rasa Sayang hotel and together with Sheila (Philip and Sarah too), we manned a table/stall full of handmade goodies. Josie dropped by and took some photos of us. I'll talk more about it later.

But for now, I have a layout to share. In my record, this is the second layout I've made thus far and I'm actually hook on scrapbooking now. It's so different from cardmaking but I'm ready to learn more about it. Here's the layout I made using of one of my favorite wedding photo taken from last year. The pattern paper that I used are mostly from the Lost & Found collection by MME. I LOVE LOVE this collection a lot! Don't you just love the glittery edge? The text backgroud? The polka dots? Ohhh, I can go on and on and on...lol :) Some of the goodies here are gifts from Sheila like the Jenni Bowlin butterfly sticker, the doily transparencies by Maya Road and the beautiful heart stick pins. She always pamper me with pretty stuff and I'm spoiled :)

Paper flowers are in rage right now and I decided to make a few for this layout. Besides looking pretty, they add dimension and depth to a layout.

More flower. Hehe....can you see the big beautiful butterfly peeking out? I can't create a layout without my favorite butterfly, can I? Lol. Some of you asked a while ago about the brand of this butterfly die and I forgotten about it. So sorry. It's by Quickutz. I was first introduced to it by my talented babe, Jessy and I fell in love with it instantly! She knew how much I loved it and generously die cut a few more for me. Thanks babe!

Before I end this, I would love to say THANK YOU for leaving me the sweetest comments on my previous post!!!! I've said it over and over that you gals are the BEST and SUPPORTIVE bloggy friends I've ever had!! I would love to hug each and every one of you but I can't so I'm sending a HUGE virtual hug to all of you! I'm off to commenting now :)

Have a great day!

Pretty Package

What I like most about gift is the pretty packaging. A prety package is equally precious of what's inside and I do not mind spending a wee bit of time into making one of a kind package for my friends. I snapped some photos of a package that I recently made for a dear friend and I woud like to share them here. If you think something's wrong with my pictures, don't worry. It is just me playing with Photoshop....very amateurish :)

The package. At first I didn't know what to do with the decorative tape by Pink Paislee.....now I know :)

Close up of the package.

The goodies that I put together for her.

I had loads of fun making these and I can see myself making a few more. I'm keeping today's post short and I hope you enjoy your day!

See ya!

According to Jessy.........

I'm a butterfly freak!! Me? A freak?? Seriously? Lol! I did a quick count and realized that I made a total of 60 butterfly cards to date. I'm not sure if that makes me a freak but I do love the nickname :) To proove that I'm indeed a freak, I made yet another butterfly card...lol :)

I confessed countless times that I love butterfly, the truth is I only like them on paper and not on clothing or accessories of any kind. Same goes with my favorite color. You know how much I love pink right? Believe me, I don't like wearing pink at all! Fushchia yes but absolutely not pink. It's funny how my cardmaking style is so different from my sense of clothing. I found some pictures online that could very well explain my fashion sense :)

You could say I'm a simple girl who loves neutral colors. My motto, the simple the better :) What about you? Does your cardmaking style reflects your fashion style or the total opposite just like me?

Happy Friday!

Together

I am loving butterfly. Stamp, die-cut, sticker or paper.....I love them all! I am never bored nor sick of them. In fact, I want more :) Can someone please tell me I'm not obssesive....lol.

Below is the card I made using my favourite stamp by Papertrey Ink! The lovely text pattern paper is from the Lost & Found collection by My Mind's Eye. I totally LOVED this collection! Who doesn't?

Ok...tell me you love butterfly too. Let us share our love together :)

Masculine card challenge at Smidapaper

How often do you create masculine cards? I think I can count with my five fingers, lol. I don't have a lot of male friends so I don't need that many masculine cards in my stash. But when I'm in need of one, I have problem creating it. Somehow my brain can't shake off the beautiful butterfly or that soft lovely color pink or that gorgeous ribbon in the jar :) You know guys don't appreciate girly stuff on their cards, right? What do I do? It took me a while to think and this is the result......

I have pink on a masculine card! Yay! But it does not look at all girly, right? I keep everything as simple as possible and I quite like it. If you are interested to find out how I created this card, you may check out my tutorial at Smidapaper blog. Besides the tutorial, I also challenge our readers (Malaysian only) to create a pink masculine card to stand a chance at winning a RM50 gift voucher from Smidapaper store!

"Pink is the new black as Savitri says it"!

Hello Friend!

I have been very quiet lately. Not that I stop creating, just that I need to focus on something else....something big at the moment. In fact, I have been creating a lot lately but unfortunately I can't share any of them here. In case you wonder what I've been up to, let me assure you it's not about joining new DT or anything close. I will disclose when the time is right :)

But for now, I have a card to share. My mojo has been very nice to me this week. I managed to whip out three cards in less than two hours yesterday and I'm very happy about it. I normally took at least one hour or more to create a card and sometimes two hours even. This week is going to be a very productive week for me :)

The paper I used are from Lost & Found collection by My Mind's Eye. I've been thrilled when I first saw this new collection on their website. I secretly told myself I had to have them and my wish granted, thanks to Sheila for bringing them. Soon, these will be available in Smidapaper. There goes my pocket :) The big die cut butterly is from Jessy. She generously die cut some for me and I LOVE them so much. The letter and butterfly stickers are by Jenni Bowlin and the ticket is by Maya Road, all of them are gifts from Sheila.

That's about all. I hope you come back again tomorrow as I have another CASE Study Challenge card to share. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Update

*cough*cough*....it's getting dusty here. i'm so sorry for being MIA for a week! i have no cards to share right now but i do have a beautiful picture of my crafty friends that took during our grathering.

photo courtesy of Jessy (from top clockwise: Shirl; Jessy; Evelin, Me n Sharm)

when i was in KL for four days, i had a great time with Jessy, Eric and their two adorable cats! i also had the chance to meet up with my crafty friends Sharm, Shirl and Evelin. they are really really sweet people. although i only met them for the first time but it feels like we've known each other forever. imagine the two hours chat we had! luckily, the restaurant staff did not chase us out for hogging the place :) the gals are so sweet as each of them prepared some beautiful RAK for me. i am thankful! Annie was out of town and i hope to meet her next time.

i was also introduced to Michelle for the first time by Jessy. this lady is full of wit and her jokes make me almost laugh my head off! it was indeed a pleasure to meet such an awesome group of friends! i was deeply thankful to both Jessy and her husband for being such gracious host to me. i was truly pampered by Jessy during my four days stay with her. i also enjoyed our late night crafting + chatting. crafting is really FUN when you have a great company especially with talented crafter like my Jessy babe :) THANKS BABE!

Tutorial at Smidapaper Blog

hey there!

i just got back from KL yesterday. it was truly an enjoyable trip for me and i will blog about that later. meanwhile, do you still remember this card i made quite a while ago?

i have been receiving emails about the ruffles i made on this card and i thought a tutorial would be in order. if you want to know how i made them, please visit Smidapaper blog HERE. i hope the simple tutorial is easy for you to understand.

thanks so much for visiting me! i know i have not been commenting lately but i do visit your blog regularly. i will definitely leave you some love when time permits. See ya!
