Wool you be mine?

Hello lovelies!

Today I'm sharing a card I sumitted for Paper Crafts call and obviously it didn't get picked and I get to share it with you.

Speaking of submission, I was lucky to have a few cards in the upcoming issues of Cards magazine and one card in Paper Cratfs. I thought I would share a story of how it all started. My first ever submission to Cards magazine was July last year. I would submit my cards (I counted....around 15 cards) to them every once in a while but none ever get picked. I was upset and decided that they never like me and almost gave up. Sheila was the one who stood by me and gave me the confidence I needed. I told myself to try one last time and if it doesn't work out, I should forget about the whole publication thingy. Imagine my surprise when I received the first acceptance email from them back in May! I was so nervous that I almost died!! I literally screamed on the phone when I shared the happy news with my bestie and it took me almost an hour to calm down...lol! Since then, I started to work on submissions and it's been good so far.

My point of sharing this story with you is NOT to brag....which is the last thing I want but hope to encourage some of you who wish to submit. Give it a try when you think you are ready and if you don't succeed the first time, don't be sad and don't let the whole publication thing take over your life (I learned my lesson). Take it easy and keep trying. One day you will enjoy the fruits of your labor :) Happy submitting!

  4. I just love this card, and thank you so very much for saying this as I too get lacking in confidence when I get all the rejection emails back, but their is just so many inspiring artists out there and now I totally understand that it can be so many different things they look for. I am so proud of your for keeping at it and look forward to seeing your work in the cards mag. I subscribe to it. Melxx

  11. Hi Cindy

I just discovered your blog through Rachel Clarke's link. Have bookmarked it as your cards are AMAZING!

Do you just send pictures of your cards to Cards mag or do you have to send the cards themselves?

Keep up the good work as they are inspiring! :)

  14. Cindy, such a sweet card I love the little lamb. Thanks for the words of encouragement about submitting our projects. I think I am one of those who wish they were published but quietly watch while others do what I wish I could.

  15. Yay for your future pubs! Can't wait to see them on the glossy pages! Totally agree about your submitting advice, if you submit something you love then it shouldn't matter if it doesn't get picked up, doesn't mean it's bad it just might not fit in with the style the magazine had in mind!
Speaking of which, I would totally accept this sweet card! Love it!
    Hugs,

  16. Great card Cindy. I have never submitted anything for that very reason. I hate rejection. I would feel the same way you were feeling. Thank you for sharing that story. Maybe I just need to get over and submit. :)

I just need to submit :P By the time the deadline comes around I'm all pooped :P Oh well... maybe one day I'll get the motivation.
